What is the biggest mistake ever done by your country?
Don't we all wish that "hindsight is always 20/20" could be "foresight is always 20/20"? A good deal of humanity's problems could have been avoided that way. Alas, such it is not to be.

I said I regret the way it happened. But it had to happen. Otherwise, had we halted at the mississippi. The french would of just populated the area and drove them out. And god knows, the french werent the nicest folks at the time.
You can´t weasel your way out of this one, faded. You endorse genocide (as you said; it had to happen), blaming the french is excruciatingly weak argumentation...

I think UK's best mistake is not acting to stop Hitler in the 1936-1938 period, instead of helping the France stoping him so stoping the WW2, the one down side would be a small local war!

1. Alexander's decision to go to the East first and then to the West.

3. The schizm (800 and 1054), though it was a joint mistake.

How can anyone say that nuking millions of innocent civilians wasn't Americas biggest mistake?
Err... though it's a nitpick: it wasn't "millions."
Second, though I think in retrospect that the decision to drop the bomb on Hiroshima was wrong (I would have preferred a warning blast first), there are many who accept it as a means to an end. The casualty projections for a conventional invasion of Japan were pretty bad, both in terms of US troops and Japanese troops & civilians. It was in the context of an all-out war.
So, while I do think the nuclear strikes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were mistakes, I still rank slavery higher on my list of US mistakes.
