Police Brutality at LA

But the officers who beat up this kid are terrorists, the officers that assaulted Abner Luima are terrorists, the officers that killed Amadou Diallo are terrorists, the officers that killed Patrick Dorismond are terrorists, the officers that killed Johnny Gamich are terrorists and the hundreds of other officers that we don't hear about that are needlessly abusive every day are terrorists.

Because someone has a badge on them and they kill someone they are a terrorist? What about the thousands of murderers that don't wear a badge. What are they?

Terrorist this terrorist that. Its a term thats beginning to be taken out of context more and more each day.

I looked at the CNN article, in broad daylight, in front of a large crowd, some here believed a group of cops layed into this kid just because he's black.

There has to be more to this besides the usual "the cops are racist".

No more than the gangs and drug dealers who kill people to maintain their power. I guarantee they do 1000X more damage to a community than a crooked cop.

Instead of the black community getting up in arms about a few racist honkey policemen, maybe they should get up in arms about the people that are killing more and more of them every day.

If this is a violent race attack, why didn't the crowd members take some kind of action?

Are we to believe a large crowd said and did nothing?

I'll wait till more facts are in before I go tossing out accusations.

Many african-americans take action against criminal activity every day. Nevertheless, it is more outrageous for a police officer to murder than a private citizen . Crime happens, but when the crimes are being committed by those who have sworn to "serve and protect" this is a different problem requiring special attention.

Murder may a bit far-fetched. But LA cops have a history of organized race profiling and persecution through secret initiatives like Rampart and NNUT project (No Ni**ers UpTown). The culture of secrecy does lend itself to cover-ups of corruption and violence, though in no way would I consider cops "terrorists"

Not to this specific attack, no. I have personally witnessed the police on three occassions go beyond their duty in harrassing Black people. Hell, I knew one guy who was hassled by the police simply because he was Black. he hadn't done a damn thing, and yet the police started giving him **** because he vaguely fit the profile of a serial rapist in the area (vaguely in that they were both Black. My friend was shorter and heavier than the person witnesses descrbed).

Police are still police, even if they are doing something wrong. If I saw cops robbing a building, I wouldn't do anything to stop them, though I might try and get some info to identify them alter. Cops have guns and billy clubs and know how to use them. They are also figures of authority, despite how people may feel about them.

Did nothing, yes. Said nothing, maybe. Cops scare me. I don't ever say s**t to them or talk back. In a situation where a cop has already demonstrated his willingness to use violence, I'd be even more quiet. I believe in mass action, not individual adventurism.

Even though this was a situation with a crowd, in a similar if I said something, it could easily get out of control, with someone in the crowd getting seriously hurt or the police getting seriously hurt. Hell, it could spark into a riot. Getting people hurt isn't what I'm about. Organization and planning and control are the key.
