  • Why Convert?

I see Aetheists are often attempting to convert christians to evolution and i must wonder why. I can see no rational reason why. I would think that Aetheists of ALL peaople would be least connested emotionally with religious issues and yet in general they are rabid about the issue and will not tolerate christianity although i can't see why they'd care.

This WILL be a reasonable discussion between a group of rational human beings, not a pitched abattle. Capishe?

Well, you may as well ask why religious people attempt to convert/control atheists and agnostics as well. Very seldom do atheists go door to door begging for you to switch to their beliefs.

Like when there's outrage when the possibility of "under god" being removed from the Pledge.

Atheists and agnostics may want you to move on because they find it annoying to have religious people constantly talking about God and what God wants and what God means.

It's so very annoying when you don't believe in God.

No, it's worse. They talk to you at work, and everywhere else. You can't slam a door on them!

        Exhibit A:

How many atheists spread messages like that?

Especially chilling is that the sign holders are smiling children.

Kinda reminds me of the old photos of the Hitler Youth...

Because that is part of their beliefs. So it's natural they'd bug you. Just get a BIG Dog and not feed him for a few days. That one 'accident' will get the point across .

                It's for the better anyway.

Atheists do stuff like burn down churches and shout profanity at non-atheists. Not all of them, but some. And not all non-atheists make kids hold signs and stuff which is something I despise.

Still no rational reasons to convert a person to Evolution have been posted and i feel really stupid if i tell you that it's obviously the work of Satan, which is quite frankly the only one i can conceive.

It is perfectly reasonable for Christians to believe in evolution. They believe that evolution was God's tool for creating man. It is referred to as Theistic evolution. Contrary to what William Jennings Bryan and others may have you believe, belief in evolution isn't any sort of sin.

But why try to convert them, why should you care?

Not everyone tries to convert everyone else.

Some people are just really, really sick of "Christian Values" dictating how we live our lives.

Once the Pledge says "Godless" instead of "Under God" you'll have a point. Right now it's really, really stupid since it's predominantly the Religious people inundating non-religious people with their beliefs and values, as well as trying to convert the non-believers.

Well, there are those who believe strongly enough in evolution as to try to convert others to it. Just as we try to convert others to Christianity. In fact, many have made mention of how modern Evolutionary science has come to resemble the uncompromising dogma of various fundamentalist sects of world religions. I think it's a fair comparison in many ways.
