It's not really brainwashing. You submit to it willingly, and you go along with it because the cult is threatening to withhold something important to you, membership in the group. I never had a "group" session, but I did have one of my comrades repeatedly pull this crap on me. However, he foolishly tried it on me as I was begining to build my own ideas on Marxism.
