They tried that in the 70s with demos etc.

Tried to force all classes at McGill to be taugh in French within 5 years (McGill Francais). Got laughed out of town when they realised that meant 3/4 of the faculty would have to move somewhere else. Would have dropped us from 1st-rate Uni to the level of Northwestern pretty quickly...

My sister went to McGill. NU is pretty comparable. Maybe even more of a research school. Donno really.

Just remember an odd feeling of being behind enemy lines as a USNA senior visiting her. But I enjoyed drinking in Montreal. And I made a big hit by filling here firdge with "extra-fat"* French food from little bakeries and butcher shops. Yumm Yumm. It was good to recieve a salary for the effort of going to school.

*no kidding...extra fat.
