So all of the African and Asian teams didn't take their qualification matches seriously?

Flubber, the second one wasn't offside, because the ball was played backwards. That was an horrific decision, but it did not cost Spain the match.

Yes, we should call it the Italian Cup perhaps? A very small cup indeed.

I thought both teams played good defense and lacked a finishing touch around the net . .

I thought the referee was both good and fair . . . he let a lot of stuff go on both sides . . . unlike the parades of red and yellow cards I have seen in other games

I though that what matters in a world cup is having the best possible referees.
I find it kind difficult that the above referees qualify for that possition...

              CL is a good example
You mean like how the referees tend to give dodgy decisions for 'better' teams in the group stages? Great example.

if you feel so strong about it, i'd love to see a comparison of how many international matches a UAE ref has played this year versus a european ref playing in CL

Wow, these excuses miss the goal as often as do Spain and Italy! LOL!

There have been others since then, but that stuck in my head.
                      Strange, I haven't seen anyone...

It might be in the rules but it is common practice leaving such phases to continue.

At a world cup, I suspect they would prefer tp go by the rules-- Can you imagine the protest if a goal was scored 30 seconds after the end of time if the rules are as clear as JohnIII indicates on this point ??

Chill out boy. I am refering to the referees and not to the teams. FYI I enjoyed Senegal for their qualification and beleive that they deserved it.

So who refereed their qualification matches, then? They had to be serious referees, surely, but they couldn't be African or Asian, because they don't have good referees.

To some of these sore losers, rules don't matter. A waning European delusion of grandeur, however, seems unbearable.
