then again will it make a difference wether your memories cease 20 or 30 years earlier... we won't remember it anyway...

Noone created it yet, so there's no way to know
How reassuring! For the self-replication suicide machine to not kill me, it would have to move my consciousness instead of just replicating it. How does it do that?

it doesn't work like that, Stefu.
Oh? What non-lethal way does it work like?

That's not true. If we are using quantum communication to recreate Stefu, he must always exist. If he did not he could not be recreated.

It's the way it was presented to me in a uni lecture once.

That's how quantum transportation works, and other stuff isn't in development yet. I'm certain that laser teleportation is quantum based. A lto easier than anything else.

Well, it's still useful to transport goods, even though it may not be safe for people.

you can sort of make the same arguement for the continuation of your consciousness in time... when one moment ends and the next begins your body ceases to exist in one time and is recreated identically in a new time but your consciousness seems to have continuity anyway... so ya never know...

Stefu : you're correct. with your body being dismantled , you ARE killed. If there is a transportation of your body, intact, you'll be alive.( as in a 'wormhole' theory ).

But I don't know much about this subject . It's KrazyHorse time.

If you are continually replacing the atoms in your body it is.

is quantum teleportation instantanious? i think i read somewhere that it is....

because then it is no different than what i described...

guys who think teleporting means death: nonsense... even if you die when teleported, then death can't be all thatbad because you'll live again a moment later. where's the problem, I think the way Caesar put it comes pretty close.

You're usually dead after dying because your body can't function anymore. In this case, it can.

It looks like Stefu is worried about the fate of the soul when the transportation process begins. He does bring up a valid point and it should not be taken lightly.

the problem is there is absolutely no way of knowing wether stefu dies or not... the new stefu will claim that it would be ridiculous to even consider stefu died because he is right there and of course the old stefu isn't around anymore to argue otherwise...

No. *I* won't. Exact replica of me will be living and walking and talking and being me. *I*, of whom I'm most concerned about, won't be.

You're usually dead after dying because your body can't function anymore. In this case, it can.
It's not my body. It's the exact replica of my body, which is controlled by exact replica of my consciousness. I'll still be dead.

Also, people usually are dead because they've died. Show me a person coming back to life from death (and I mean total, complete death, not just some pansy near-death experience) and I'll be impressed.
