Well Solver, Dalgetti just posted, that's usually a bad omen for a thread.

Oh, I'm not that educated in OTF things . This thread, just like everything OT, gets replies so fast...

While matter transportation would be just dandy, the human transporter self-replication suicide machine wouldn't be. Then again, if someone's actually dim enough to kill himself via science, then he's willing to try it. As an added bonus, he gets replicated at the other end, so if we ignore the part where he dies, he's as fit as a fiddle!

The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency

but there is absolutely no way of knowing wether stefu's consciousness was transfered or terminated and then recreated. the new stefu will have all the same memories and will remember all the events preceding the teleportation, but in reality one consciousness could have ended and another created... then again does it make a difference?

Probably it makes no difference, but how will the original Stefu feel when killed? We'll have to get a killer for each transporter .

CtG, replace "could have" with "would have".

Let's try a thoughtplay. After someone's used the self-replication suicide machine, it's left on and produces another replica. Does that one have the original's consciousness?

Stefu, it *should*. Noone created it yet, so there's no way to know, but you'll be the first to try.

it doesn't work like that, Stefu.

it doesn't work like that because as soon as you created the copy, the orignal is destroyed. and there can be no pattern saved.

That's the way we imagine it.
