OK maybe that's just me. . JK. So you are supposed to watch and enjoy it, but you can't pull out your thing and do things. What's the point of watching porn and not jerking off? .         besides, We've got plenty of girls in the military. esp. in boot camp , where many are the instructors in weapons , first aid, fitness , etc. so I am covered from all sides.

I have extraordinary mental discipline. It must have came from boot camp. But that was then, this is now. Now I accept any homoerotic tendencies I may or may not have

            the military is a strange place. Boot camp is the hardest- pun intended. Finding a place to jerk off isn't easy. The toilet stalls had no doors on them!. People could actually watch you as you took a dump. Although no one did that- except me . JK. I think the lack of jerking off in boot camp made it worse than it actually was.
            I guess US Army is a bit tougher than the Swedish, all we ever did was drive around in our trucks, barbeque, drink beer and play soccer. But we were a pretty lame outfit even by swedish standards...

              The one when you first join and they brainwash...err I mean introduce you to the military lifestyle. They do a clean jerk (maybe not the right word) type of thing. The shock treatment essentually. they take away everything you once had- including your hair.

                An aquaintance of mine was a member of the group that handles funerals in Washington DC. They were bored out of their skulls and they seem to have decided that recreationals drugs was the way out of their bored skulls.

                However a lot US soldiers have to spend time tramping around the deserts in California or the swamps in the South or playing land on the beach also in California.

                I think baseball is more popular than soccer here. However I have no personal experiece in the military. If I did I might be dead as it would have likely entailed combat in Viet Nam.

                    Nope, I served for 7,5 months (standard time if you´re not aspiring to be an reserve officer) and what I said before is basically what we did. But since Sweden has a draft system 90% of the recruits return to civilian life after 7,5-15 months.

                    But I served at the T2 Göta Logistics Regiment in a platoon that acted as fire men and cleaned men and machines from radioactive/chemical contamination.

                    My brother in law who served at the Svea Life Guards (no, it has nothing to do with Baywatch...) as a military police had it a lot tougher.

                    All in all, since Sweden hasn´t been in a war since 1814 (against Norway) military training is not highly prioritized in Swedish society. Unlike the US or Israel.

                      Well I guess in a military as big as the US´there´s bound to be a fair amount of rather mindnumbingly boring duties

                              Prior to the lottery system you never knew when or if you would be drafted as the US did not have a universal draft. The military only drafted enough to meet their needs. However the draft was so unpopular at that point the Marines had been forced by the rest of the military to take draftees just to spread the heat around to all the military.

                              1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 your a Marine, is the way I heard it was being done. That was bad. The Marines should never have draftees. Its bad for the morale of the Corp and thats not good for what is supposed to be a fairly elite part of the military.

                              When they went to the lottery you had one year that you might be drafted and you knew your number. Mine was 177 and they though they would get to 175 that year so I wasn't sure and I was not a full time student then. They only got up to 150 something though. More volunteers than they expected. Some of the voluteers were people that knew they were destined to have their number come up because it was low.

                              The US now has an all volunteer military. Thats much better for morale and the US can go back to being a largely civilian nation as it had been for most of its history. Volunteers make better soldiers at least when you don't need everyone you can get.

                              It also upsets us civilians less when the military has to fight. They all volunteered for it and there is no draft to protest. There is no doubt in my mind that if we didn't have a draft there wouldn't have been nearly as much protesting over the Viet Nam War. Shortly after they stopped sending draftees to Viet Nam the protesting went way down and US politics became less volitile.
