Besides, I don't read plot-comics just for soap opera. Good plot-comics (Sluggy, fr.ex) have both a plot and good jokes. Penny Arcade has neither. It's as simple as that.

Many things are serialized. That does not make them soap operas. Soap operas are overly dramitised stories about trivial things in everyday life. They are produced for the purpose of selling, you guessed it, soap.

I said "usually". Most good books do not become serialized.
