The two best, in terms of artwork and imagination, are the sporadically-update Electric Sheep and When I Am King. Long, very long, but so much more entertaining thatn the 'strip a day' dross.

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I just read entirety of When I Am King. It left me with a weirded-out feeling. There's *something* wrong with that comic, and I don't mean that in a good way.

Electric Sheep, though, this is seriously good scheisse. I've encountered this guy's comics before ("Saturnalia" and "Rush Limbaugh Eats Everything"), but hadn't connected them with each other. Apocamon shows how truly odd The Revelations sound when taken literately.

When I Am King is great, it's just a little...odd.

You mean the JeffK joke. Again, and again, and again.

                    And again.

                    And again.

It's hillarious. You just don't appreciate word-based humour.

It's stupid. You just have a high tolerance for being fed the same joke over and over. Keep it fresh, keep it exciting.

NO. NO POKEY THE PENGUIN. GODDAMNIT.

Anyway, E-Sheep's expanding my mind. Now I'm left wondering whether all that in "Guy I Almost Was" about cyberculture being created instead of coming into being by itself is/was true.

I shall reprint my rant about Pokey the Fjoxxoring Penguin.

What? Are you saying that it's badly drawn? It's supposed to be badly drawn, and when something's supposed to be badly drawn, it's as good as being well drawn, kinda like how bad jokes in Simpsons are actually good jokes because creators sign them off as bad jokes with knowing nudge and wink!

What? There are no jokes in it? This is a Webcomic! There are supposed to be no jokes in webcomics! Webcomics are like Finnish TV humor, y'see - there's not actually anything funny about it, but there are so many designed catchphrases and wacky, zany situations it manages to masquerade as humor! Well, except that Finnish TV humor shows actually have a budget unlike webcomics, and it shows.

Oh, the catchphrases! Catchphrases! "Arctic circle candy!" "Hooray!" Repeat these phrases to your nerd buddies, and watch them either understand them, so you two can just stand there in smugness and pretend to be members of Homo Superior Postmodernus, or not understand them, which means you can play the über-nerd who reads Pokey the Penguin or something equally crappy and is so much better for it.

Come on, show Pokey the Penguin to your friends! If they don't laugh, they just don't get it! Of course, truly "getting it" would be understanding that in wonderful world of World Wide Web, you are supposed to laugh at things like this, because... well... you are supposed to laugh at things like this! And say that they are brilliant and intelligent, and find hidden meanings, and quote the inane catchphrases, and if you don't actually find it funny, then you damn well better pretend you do!

What? Are you not laughing at Pokey the Penguin? Nekulturnyi idiot! It's crappily done and contains no humor, just absurdism! You are member of Gen-X! YOU MUST LAUGH AT POKEY THE PENGUIN!
