I do think age of consent is ridiculous as far as preventing two people of the same age group from having sex, though. It's not even a factor...I never even realized it was illegal until it was too late.

The argument that some people are more mature than others is a nonissue, since there is no alternative unless you implement some Big Brother system and personally monitor every choice and decision a person makes to determine how mature they are.
So please stop arguing about how the age of consent doesn't represent everyone's maturity level -- it was never intended to. Just a ballpark figure, and that's the best we can do.
