Ok back to the conversation...The point is age of consent. Is age the way to meassure maturity? My opinion no. Of course age isn't the way to measure maturity, there is in fact NO way to measure maturity.
It all has to be based on the judgement of someone who knows the person extremely well. Most likely this is the parent.
Unfortunately REALITY DICTATES (you love that phrase) that kids will f*ck around with eachother when and if they want, regardless of parents wishes or laws.

Age of consent should be related to an individuals desire and belief in them selves. Why not have a license for sex? Go through a series of exams to learn about the complications and possibilities then go for it - just show someone your license first. Maybe even tie it in with yor drivers license...

Age of consent laws only work when they're set at the "normal" spot. There's always going to be exceptions...I know some 30-year-olds that wouldn't be allowed to legally drink if I had my way, and 15-year-olds that should. But they're no basis for an argument.Comment
