I've owned a several cool cars I enjoyed driving. Perhaps the one with the most personality was "King Herod", a 1972 Ford Gran Torino wagon I bought for $450 and ended up driving for five years. Seven headlights, six horns, and one bowling trophy hood ornament.

My favorite car was this 1970 Lincoln Mark III which I owned for about 9 years. Gorgeous and powerful, what a treat to drive - sitting behind that six foot hood felt like steering an aircraft carrier. Through the dual Flowmaster mufflers the 450-4bbl (365 horses) sounded like a symphony in stereo. Drove it to work every day. Wow, I sure miss that car!

Here's what I'm driving now. It's a YongJiu ("Forever" or "Everlasting"), a venerable Shanghai name brand. I'm told this model was based on 1930's British bicycles. Comes in one size: towering (28"). Like the name says, it's built to last - check out the fully-enclosed chain. No brake cables either, this number's got steel pushrods instead! Favored by peasants who need something durable to transport heavy loads, it's built like a truck ... and weighs like one, too. Lucky Shanghai has the topology of an ironing board. Cost all of US$40 brand new! The bell is required by law.

cia - bonus points for even recognizing it! I wasn't sure anybody even would! Love 'em or hate 'em kinna cars, from what I've seen, but I've always been fascinated by them.

Had the good fortune of driving one that lives in Washington state....and even then, I had to PROMISE the owner I'd not get...you know...too carried away.

            Drives like a dream tho....one day....one day....

            -=Vel=-
PS: Heard recently the the company's funding dried up....a pity, too...awesome cars....

I had a '67 Pontiac GTO in high school.
It doesn't get much cooler that that.

I'm not very big on American muscle cars, especially the ones where I'd worry about the seat giving out due to rusting.

Personally I find that car hideous, and something tells me it had a 10000L engine and 4mpg.

                        Now THAT'S true, Baggins.

And Asher, I know it wouldn't matter if I had said a Silver Cloud Rolls Royce , you'd have found it "hideous".
That's why I don't let your opinion concern me.

That incidentally reminds me of a joke that Robbie Coltrane made during a show where he was driving a Cadillac across the US. The joke was essentially about him stoping for gas. The gas attendant attempting to fill the tank said, 'could you turn the engine off please? I can't keep up'

Why would I think a Silver Cloud Rolls Royce would be hideous? That's a very nice looking car. Very upscale and looks powerful at the same time.

American 60s and 70s muscle cars though, bleeeeeech. Unoriginal, boring, drab, gas-guzzlers, hugely inefficient engines every way possible, poor overall handling and acceleration due to the mass. The only thing it has going for it is nostalgia, just admit that.

                              Nope. I won't, I won't.
This is what Ii want to get next. 1968 Camaro.

I think a Mazda Miata would be cool to drive.

Isn't the Miata a PowerWheels car?
