For the middle-aged European Apolyton members, do you remember to what extent the history of United States was taught in your history courses/classes in primary education??
And for the younger adult-aged and teenage European Apolyton members, to what extent today, was/is the history of United States taught in your primary educaiton classes/courses??
Independent was checked briefly, due it's extent to French revolution.
Indian wars and expecially Civil war were a big issue.
US role on WWI was a big issue.
Vietnam and Korea were commented by few sentences in our book.
Nothing else.
This is not to be eccentric to my own country -- I am curious as to how much Europeans know about the history of United States, that is all. And how important is the history of United States in your primary education system, anyway??
As important as the history of Russia.
Do most Europeans know all 50 of our states? I am ignorant when it comes to knowing the districts or provinces of any European country.
I don't know any EU land's provinces except Finland, Estonian and a few German.
As your states... erm...
Washington,
Oregon,
California,
Boise,
Nevada,
Utah,
Arizona,
Montana
Colorado,
New Mexico,
North Dakota,
South Dakota,
Kansas,
Oklahoma,
Texas,
Eastern Dakota (?!) ,
Iowa,
Missouri,
Missisippi (?),
Louisiana (?!),
Illinois,
Jackson,
Tennessee,
Alabama,
Ohio,
Georgia,
Florida, ... Erm, then the East coast:
Massachuttes (?),
New York,
New Jersey (?),
Washington D.C. ,
West Virginia,
Virginia,
Michigan (?),
North Carolina,
South Carolina,
There were... 36 Am I good or what?
I just had this question bugging me, and thought I would get comments and opinions from you loveable European Apolyton members.
And one more thing -- this is not going to be used for flaming or trolling in anti-Europe or anti-American fashion. Yeah, I know, it's an unrealistic request, but try, pretty please, with a strawberry on top??
Strawberry?
What, you've usen too many strawberry condoms or what?
Nah, 'fraid not, I'm from the UK (Hull, Yorkshire, more precisely).
The states looked pretty good, but get past 40 and you can't remember any more as you can only remember ones you have already put it and it is hard weeding out the remaining ones. I got 46, duplicated 1 and put a Canadian one in (just testing, of course )

We've had Europeans naming states. How many European countries can the American posters name (without cheating).

Scotland and Wales are not "sovereign states". They don't have independant armies and foreign policies. Who cares if they have their own soccer teams in the Euro Cup?
Things not to say in Wales or Scotland lesson 1.

On the contrary Mike. This is the best way to do things. Whilst in Scotland visit a quaint Glaswegian suburb called Govan. Sample Govan hospitality by visiting a local snooker hall or pub and requesting a 'Glaswegian kiss' from the most surly, large looking alpha male there. You'll get the true idea of what a friendly people the Scottish can be
