In some cases then, the healthy sex drive obviously isn't fulfilled. People claim to be gay, people claim to be bisexual, and some people claim to be asexual.
And Iain also brings up a damn fine point about your attitude to alternative culture. From not too long ago you seem to have done a total U-turn. I have seen how in recent time you have conducted yourself on the Rockworld board, like an arse would be the best description. You even take subtle jibes at me or Iain. It's really strange, and somewhat concerning.Last edited by Provost Harrison; March 19, 2002, 07:20.Speaking of Erith:

I do want to ask you however, whether we can agree that one's sexuality cannot possibly at the time of birth be limited to one of the genders, and that same sexuality is if not entirely, then at least mostly shaped by your environment.
If that's correct, we're all bisexual to begin with, whereafter our respective environments in most cases shapes a preference for one and only one gender. It would also mean you could eventually change your sexual orientation if the "forgotten" side in yourself was stimulated somehow, maybe through reflections on sexuality, being around bisexuals in a pseudo-sexual context and so on.
Of course, that would only be possible in a period of actual sexual development - I can imagine that the early teen years would probably be those where one would be most easily affected.
END OF QUOTE FROM MONK
This is what began in another thread started by Blisterz and we decided to continue the discussion here, where it is more relevant.
I have to get back to you on this Monk to provide more meaningful comments. Right now, I'm pressed for time. Gotta get to classes in less than a half hour.
Now that I have read your comments, Monk, let me contribute some of what I think of what you said.
If sexual orientation is on a continuim rather than separated rigidly from one another, then your statements could be correct. But only if sexual orientation can be proven to be on a continuim.
I think once you develop your sexual orientation, whether that be through environment, or genetics, that is the sexual orientation that you were probably meant to be --- whether that be heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual.
Or maybe bisexuality can be seen metaphorically as a weighing scale if sexual orientation is on a continuim. That means then, that you could be fundamentally bisexual, while leaning either towards bisexuality or heterosexuality. Which is basically what you said. Interesting -- I will probably have more to say as I think about it some more.
And Boddington, you seem to be ignorant about the theories on sexual orientation development, and sexual identity. You use the word "claim" in a completely wrong sense. Do you "claim" to be straight? Of course not -- we are usually HONEST about our sexual orientation once we realize what that true sexual orientation is -- not "claiming" a sexual orientation.
And Blisterz, please do not take this the wrong way. I do not want to get on your bad side. I thought since your thread was a more personal issue one, that Monk and I would have thread-jacked the original topic. Sorry, man.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Red Jon and Starchild,
I like the way you say 'healthy heterosexual sex drive', clearly implying that homo and bisexuality are unhealthy
PH,
Who are you to label what is a healthy sex drive and what isn't. In fact Stew, homosexuality is commonly observed in the wild in a large number of species
AH,
I agree. People trying to be cool and appear "open-minded" and "embracing" when in reality, they are just trying to be fashionable and like their friends. (This doesn't apply to all)www.my-piano.blogspot

How do you explain people who have been bisexual all their life and knew it? How about those same people in an extremely conservative environment that frowns on it? Are they doing it to be cool and fashionable? No wait, let me guess, this time they're doing it for rebellion, right?
You're so off and generalizing entire people based upon the poor judgement of certain people (no doubt in your group, birds of a feather...)."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I'm not saying all "bisexuals" are so to be trendy. I'm saying the majority of them are, though.
Especially the females.www.my-piano.blogspot

I don't know if that's what euros call a poser but it's a classic case where I come from.
I'm not generalising.

That said, how many bisexuals do you know outside of your social circle in England?
That said, how many bisexuals do you know outside of England?
You don't have nearly enough samples, nor enough brains, to reach that conclusion. Maybe most bisexuals you are friends with do it to be trendy, but I suppose the same is for a lot of the stuff they do. Does that mean everybody is a mindless fool like them? Certainly not."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Bod:See above point, and what you wrote here is highly doubted anyway.
I have to admit that I have personally witnessed homosexual behaviour amongst two squirrels. Both were male and they never had any offspring. They lived in the same nest for two years. Then again, it could be that only Finnish squirrels are gay."A witty saying proves nothing."
