Excuse me, but I feel the need to clarify a couple of things:
    1) I am not, per se, a "used" car salesman. I am a purveyor, mainly, of two very reputable lines of NEW automobiles, namely, Mazda and Toyota. I also have the distinct pleasure of selling the credit challenged, tastless and, basically, cheap customers a fine alternative selection of cars, the Korean specialty known as Hyundai. In actuality, Hyundais are quite easy to sell, as my customers usually don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of, or they want an SUV that doesn't weight 27,000 pounds and is under $25,000.
    B) Not just any right wing schmuck can walk in and sell such high ticket items with efficiency you know...the professional sales individual must boast a full complement of abilities, including but not limited to: exceptional "people" skills, mathematical ability, impeccable hygiene, grotesque ability to assimilate stress, teeth grinding politeness, and many, many more skills that the average schlomo on these boards could but fantasize about having. You must also be able to tie a necktie, tuck in your shirt, shave, lie whilst appearing earnest and joyously accept a $63 commission on a deal you spent 14 hours doing.

    Thank you.

If Wiglaf would care to forward me his CV, I'd be glad to provide him with some career guidance tips.

Sneak- do you do that salesman trick of offering customers coffee and making sure that it's hot enough to melt copper- thus ensuring a captive audience for the next 15 minutes? It used to work for me.

My God, that's fiendish! I'll use it if I find the occasion.

God...I really want to avoid becoming the business equivalent of a carny...

Kids- if you ever feel the need to really boost your cynicism levels, just get a job as a salesman. You'd be amazed at how warped and manipulative you'll become.

I can empathise with your problems Wiggy, I left my PhD although I consider them for reasons outside of my control and the situation, poor working conditions and lack of supervision. I am currently looking for more work, but I am not too concerned with an Oxford degree in biochemistry and years of experience in a research/laboratory environment, I am sure I will pull through.

Hey Wiglaf - join the government. You'll never have to work again.

It's an option sneak, although if I were to emigrate, I think I'd rather choose Australia or NZ myself

Ming, it is at this point that I must respectfully disagree. Any thread about losing a job that starts off:
To no fault of my own, mind you. I merely decided to quit.
must not be taken seriously. Trolling at its worst (or is it best? ). Damn, even I was sucked in.

Paiktis would have said that even with our poor resources we have a military of the highest quality, blah, blah, blah...

I''m not intersted in how good the Greek military is. And having a big army does not mean that you will like the army better than otherwise. It's pretty much like your willy: no matter how big it is, it is YOURS and that's all that counts.

Af for cops, they're better than pimps, worse than wallet-snatchers.

Are you just looking for something temporary or something permanent?
Temporary, summer job. One that does not involve moving to Australia or Afghanistan.
