I don't understand it: Why is anybody listening to stuff thats 200 years old, or older? I mean it has nothing to do with the world of today, it has been heard over and over.
i didnt read all 3 pages of this **** cos it seems pointless, but, i listen to Baroque, i love it, i luve bach. Its not all the same, have you ever taken the time to listen to it?

if you want music that is all the same then Rock music is it, all pentatonic or power chords. thats it. I like it though....

If you dont like something fine, but it doesnt mean that people who do are snobs. I play rock gutar, but since i took up classical i have improved imensly, but a few people i know thing that classical is for idiots, geeks what ever.

People like Bach and Beethoven had an ability to make beutiful harmonies, and sounds. I never heard Slipknot or N'SYNC do that, could some on today wright some thing like beethovens 9th?

even modern day classical music is **** compared to the odler stuff (for sdome reason, the spoons is now a master piece).

But to say this music is for snobs and this is for cool people, its just rong.

What do you mean by modern classical music? Aome people might include Sibelius, Rachmaninoff, Orff, Bernstein, Williams, or even Tchaikovsky

Snapcase, please explain exactly how The White Stripes are dangerous, rebellious and subversive.
You see, Bodna, it's very simple:

                1. Snapcase likes White Stripes.
                2. Snapcase only likes dangerous, subversive and rebellious music.
                3. Therefore, The White Stripes are dangerous, subversive and rebellious.

Snapcase's insistence of only counting music that fits in his surprisingly stretchable concept of rebelliousness as rock music, which has led him to consider rap music rock but prog rock as not-rock somehow reminds me of people rating Christian rock according to how many times the word "Jesus" is used.

"24 mentions of Our Lord and Savior. Excellent."

"10 mentions of Our Lord and Savior. Good, good."

"ONLY 3 MENTIONS OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR! THIS MUST BE SATANIC SECULAR MUSIC!"

The extra benefit is that you don't even have to listen to the music!
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

They don't annoy me; I just wonder why you like them.

I could understand if they were dangerous, rebellious or subversive; but they're not. I've not heard any decent songs by them either.

                  So please explain.

                    Rebellious? Subversive? Dangerous?

                    It's all relative.

Rameau's work was considered so rebellious that it split the 18th century French music world into two violently warring factions. If you listen to a lot of what preceeded it (Lully et al), it is sometimes jarring ... yet so wonderful!

We take so much for granted now. Much of our contemporary musical conventions (such as A=440, the scales, etc) were at one time rebellious or controversial.

But of course you'd never know that if you just listen to Radiohead or whatever all day.

Today I listened to Telemann and Sonic Youth and loved them both!

Most people do not select music for it's political beliefs, they select it because their own personal tastes find it pleasing.
