  • What's the most beautiful city in the world?

What's everyone's pick as the most beautiful city on Earth? Keep in mind, this doesn't mean the "best" city in the world, or most wealthy, or anything else other than the abstract quality of "beauty".

My pick: Ljubljana, Slovenia. Just amazing.

It's not New York. And it's not Naples.

Geneva, Munich and, from what I heard from foreign tourists, Lisbon.

          Not Cairo?

The city I have enjoyed the most is Amsterdam, I don't know whether 'beauty' is the reason I like the place, I just, erm, like the place...

Contrary to popular opinion, my home city is not that ugly either (exclude the council estates, I mean city centre areas and the like). It can be a very nice city...

amsterdam is not a place of beauty. Nice is a place of beauty, paris is a place of beauty, La Caern Switzerland is a place of beauty...

I haven't seen every city in the world, but I really like San Francisco.

I prefere largely Aix-en-Provence than Avignon.

                        Favorite city?

Detroit, of course. It's like Cleveland, without the glitter.

There are many adjectives that could be used to describe Detroit, but 'beautiful' wasn't the first to spring to my mind.

I would pick one of the smaller centres in the Cotswolds, but not Dursley.

                            Kandahar, Afghanistan

I think Monte Carlo, Lausanne, San Francisco, and Singapore are some of the most beautiful big cities.

There are countless beautiful small cities, like Boulder, Colorado, for example.

Prague. Not only the great renaissance old town and the famous palace, but the surrounding 19th-century "new town", all exactly in my taste.
