      I gave good reasons for why I don't tend to like Christianity, as well as other superstitions. Though I wouldn't necessarily say I dislike a Christian(some are my friends)....that statement was more made to get under Kaak's skin.

      As a group though I can say Christians have seemed to do more harm then good and I base that off of sound reasoning. Not irrational hatreds.

      • I would have to say that you do meet definition #3 based on your posts.

        Now since we are trying to get Kaak's skin, I will say that homosexuality isn't a sin according to God.

          I gave some reasons for number 3, so that hatreds not therefore irrational, to say it is while ignoring my reasoning is to say "Your suspicions are irrational....because they are irrational".

          I also dislike Nazis as a group...but I'd hardly say that dislike was irrational.

          Now for homosexuality:

              LR-- I'm an atheist, and I completely agree with DD here. You're behaving just as badly as you say Christians do, and you're giving atheists a bad name in the process.

              Have Christians pulled a lot of bad ****? Of course. They have also done a lot of good. In general, I'd say they've broken even, or at least close to it.

              By your logic, dislike for atheism-in-general is completely justified; atheists have pulled some nasty **** in the past, too.

                We are working off of different types of background knowledge,mine is far too much for me to go into at this time. Maybe at a later time. For short though I'd like to point to wars,opression,witchtrials and scientific progress that has been hampered by Christians.

                The KKK wizard can give reasons...but I doubt they are valid.

                To say that any judging of a group "no matter what" is wrong, is extremist and absolutist. Like I said, I don't like Nazis either basically because of wars,opression and genocide. Here your background knowledge and a priori biases agree for the most part with mine; so I bet we are more likely in agreement on that one. I think the fact that we live in an area heavily populated by Christians tends to bias our evaluation of Christianity as a whole in an irrational way.

                  Atheism is not a positive ideology but a negative stance. Atheists promote nothing, Christianity does. I also tend to dislike irrationality on principle. This would include superstitious movements like Christianity, whenever atheist movements go bad its because they are usually based on some sort of dogma. Also try not to commit the perfectionist fallacy, you seem to be stating that since no group is perfect, no group is better then the other.

                  • LR - you can tell you and DM are friends. You both try and use christian arguements against my point of view to prove me wrong, when I used none in support, and ACTUALLY even said that I may be wrong.

                    I wish i had more time to respond adequately...Try to refrain from being rediculous in the future...

                    • Broken even?!

                      Broken even...that's nonsense. I can name dozens of harmful things Christians have done in the past and continue to do today. From harassing abortion clinics to trying to tear down the wall of separation between Church and state. Crusades, the opression of women, homophobia and the promortion of superstitions. I can think of little if anything good that's come out of Christianity. In either case what little usefullness its had is over, now its just a burden as it hampers critical thinking in an age where the most critical decisions must be made.

                              • I believe that too many Christians have altered and twisted the original message and preachings of Jesus Christ and his spirit of good-will.

                                Throughout history after Jesu's death, Christian leaders have used the guise of religion to promote and advocate:

                                1) Sexism--that some Christian leaders believed that the Bible allowed for husbands to beat their wives whenever wives tried to assert themselves as individuals

                                2) Racism--that some Christian leaders believed the Bible justified slavery based on race in the 19th century; that some Christian leaders used the Bible to declare that expression of intimate love between two people of different races was a sin; that some Christian leaders used the Bible to justify the lynching of blacks to protect the mythical purity of white women

                                3) Homophobia--that some Christian leaders believed the Bible calls for violence and murder against homosexuals; that some Christian leaders believe the Bible calls for the "duty" to picket people's funerals if they were murder victims at hands of bigots

                                4) Anti-Semitism--that some Christian leaders believed the Bible justified the Holocaust under Nazi Germany; that some Christian leaders believed the Bible declared Jews as living servants of the Devil
                                A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
