We have been laughing in your faces since you started this!
If you have to tie yourself in knots to justify that treatment of prisoners then that treatment is WRONG.
Trying to grab moral highground that Euros tried here again (With the usual Bull, one guy says treatment of the Japanese, then is reminded about the Nazis, and responds THAT IS ANCIET HISTORY!

We seem to be out of synch today Chris - I'm mellowing out and you're still using the quote feature
I want to say to all my American friends, I love you guys
But seriously, I do think the treatment of these prisoners is inappropriate.Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

So this is now an America vs. Europe-issue? ...you should still remember that when you mock each others, you mock yourselves as well. America is the child of Europe, and no American (except the native ones/indians) can seriously consider him/herself something far away from Europe (well... England, Spain, Portugal and France at least). And this also goes vice versa, so hold it you Europeans, too.
And I'm on the side of the "euro-weenies" on this one. I do agree that the al-qaida and taleban fighters are murderers and terrorists, but that doesn't require us to fall low and behave the same way (and notice how I used the term -US-, as in "we", although I'm not American myself). I've no problem with the cages and such, or tight guarding etc... that's just natural, but the sensory deprivation really just goes too far.
I, myself would have probably finished them off with a nice neck-shot, but that makes me only admire more the civilized way we usually (excluding this case, sadly...) treat murderers. You make my life and times

Umm... ok, my definition was too tight.
Let's say then that every white/hispanic American who speaks a European langauge as his/her mother tongue, or someone who has totally adopted the American/European/Western culture. Okay now?You make my life and times

They brought out all their normal stuff, and I was watching NFL football, and missed it!

I will concede that soldiers, in general, make poor jailors.
But, AH, a Code Red, AFAIK, and you'll have to get this confirmed through someone more in the know, is not something done to someone outside of the same military unit - you wouldn't call a prisoner beating, or whatever, a Code Red, I don't think.
And actually, I'm in favor of Code Reds in the context of military discipline.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche

I think its the cages which annoy me most.
Thuggery has no place in military discipline.

Just keep this kind of thing up and you'll be having WTC #2 soon enough...
The fact is that you are allowing the fates of a few score Al Qaeda tarnish your World reputation as a fair and justice minded country - they are winning, you are allowing the Al Qaeda to show the rest of the World en masse what they already believe...
Who cares whether you feel justified in meting out this punishment - to the rest of the World it's just another example of the disdain with which America treats the rest of the World!
The crazy thing is that I have been saying the same thing since the first time I came on this forum - the rest of the World can only take so much of this sh*t before it strikes back! Over a year ago I actually warned you guys that you would be the victims of a domestic terror campaign and I was laughed at by many of you because you didn't think it possible!
Well, it happened!
This isn't "I told you so", it's 'I'm telling you so' - it will happen again if you continue this brash arrogance!
Case in point: I went to a dinner invitation yesterday evening where among the guests were two Serbian language teachers - Almost the ENTIRE population of Serbia hates the US!!! When Serbia was attacked hundreds of civilians were killed by US warplanes and missiles, but as well as that the entire infrastructure of Serbia was smashed! All the bridges across the Danube were destroyed for example, where she lives (Novi Sad) the hospital is on opposite side of the river from the city - it has been several years since the destruction, but in most cases the bridges still haven't been rebuilt because of lack of funds! The Serbs were guilty of nothing more than fighting Albanian insurgents within their own country - albeit extremely heavy handedly! But not moreso than how the US has behaved in Afghanistan IMO...
For this, their entire country was smashed! For the actions of a minority, the entire population suffered and continues to suffer! In that one act America made the lifelong enemies of an entire nation - not just those that were committing the crimes!
She said that many in Serbia were very happy when 11-9 happened and that at best the prevailing opinion on the street was that America got what it had coming to it...
So, either learn from your mistakes - or maybe you'll be the first nation to experience a terrorist nuke going off in one of your ports or what have you.
You can start with giving the prisoners at Bat Guano Bay some shelter from the elements - even if it's a f***ing transparent portacabin!!!
