The general conception of American food is "fast food". I'm not sure that's fair, but it's probably right.
Does the USA have a "national dish"? I very much doubt it... other than whatever is eaten on Thanksgiving (pumpkin pie?), I would imagine that to eat in the USA would be a truely cosmopolitan experience. You can't pigeonhole "American food" because I'm not entirely sure it even exists...

Of course there is other american food outside of Fast Food, but that doesn't matter - It's the food which is associated with america both from it's own citzens, and from people all over the world. It is the american food.Rethink Refuse Reduce Reuse
