i've just stepped back and taken a look at this debate...
we have a faction championing the rights of the deaf to hear again
we have another faction championing the rights of the deaf to enjoy life
i don't exactly see the existence of any conflicts between these two
but oh well.
I doubt if this girl will ever forgive her parents.

Possibly, but then at the same time it's quite possible she will understand where her parents are coming from. I think the problem is that "society" doesn't understand where her parents are coming from, they just say they are being selfish. The more I've looked into it the more their standing has merit. As by and large it sounds like a prelingualy deaf child has a better chance to enjoy life if her education is focused on enhancing the skills that she has rather than trying to fix the skill that she doesn't.What if your words could be judged like a crime? mmmmm..... I'll compose a full rebuttal later on, though I must say, November Adam, that the article you posted somewhat upset the pro-hearing side's arguments.
I'll reply to it tomorrow.Poor silly humans. A temporarily stable pattern of matter and energy stumbles upon self-cognizance for a moment, and suddenly it thinks the whole universe was created for its benefit. -- mbelleroff
