What!! Guy goes on a rampage with a gun and no gun control thread yet?
We'll go half way around the world at extreme cost to bring murderers to justice, but we won't put restrictions on weapons to prevent the murders committed by our own citizens every day.

So how would it be different if he locked or jammed all the doors and used heavy machinery? It WAS a factory. If nothing else he could've picked up a nail gun or a screw gun.
What's odd about this case (if it is in fact the one from Goshen) is that we had a guy start shooting people in a trailer park a couple of years ago. I guess peoplke from Goshen have a high level of disgruntleness.
To everyone who knows someone in the area, I'm glad that in all probability they're alright. Too bad Goshen only got publicity because of a gunman.

Actually, if I really wanted to get people at a factory, I would get the propane tanks from the forklifts and blow them up. If the tanks were near the air tank, that would be a pretty good sized explosion.

Just another tool for small men to feel compotent and compensate for their small jimmies. Guns are supposedly for protection. But how often do they actually help someone defend themselves? I don't think I can recall a single story in which the use of a gun helped matters. Can you?
There should be a psychology test along with someones application to purchase a gun.
I see the world through bloodshot eyes
Streets filled with blood from distant lies.

Actually we do put restrictions on weapons. There are over 22,000 gun laws on the books today. That's enough gun control if you ask me. And anyway the gun control is hitting what you aim at. The problem is that putting restrictions on guns doesn't deter violence. A man with a crow bar, baseball bat, butcher knife, machette, etc., etc. etc. can do just as much damage at the workplace as this fool did with his gun, probably more because those items don't run out of ammo.
At least we'll be saved the burden and expense of a trial with this guy. He had the decency to find himself guilty.

In other words, in European nations where guns are outlawed the homicide rate is 7 times lower than in the USA.
Any Americans care to explain that huge difference? [QUOTE]
Is it really a huge difference?
I guess you Eurocommies are better behaved than us, eh? Gee, tell you what. What the US gets close to 20 million homicides, why don't the EUROPEANS come tell us about how bad we are.

I know we do, I never claimed we didn't have any gun control laws. 22,000? Does that account for local and state laws, or are you talking all federal laws, because I sincerely doubt the number is that high. If it's state and local inclusive, then it makes perfect sense and the number is as I would have expected it to be.
Even if those are all federal level laws, they obviously are not laws that are doing anything meaningful or drastic when it comes to gun control.

That's a nice little theory that has been protecting the NRA and anti-gun control advocates for years.
Explain to me then why the statistics that MarkL gave exist.

Go on dino, with your example...all I ever hear about guns is who they kill, not who they save.
Off the top of my head. On Oct. 1, 1997 the vice principal of Pearl High School , who watched two of his students shot to death and 7 others injured, took out a gun he had hidden and chased the murderer and captured him before he could escape.
The only reason I remember that is because I lived one town over from where this happened.
