      Trading privacy for convenience.

Japher's right though. We'll get them and we'll like them. How many people do you know have discount cards for various chains? How much do you think marketing agencies know about you?
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

No I won't. I'll leave first. Why are Americans becoming such sheep? I am writing a check to the League of the South right now. They may be our only hope.

                Hmmm...

States rights and the protection of the rights of the majority or national oversight and protection of the minority at the cost of the majority ? Guess it just depends on which side of the fence you sit on. For me personally, the first one works better, although I acknowledge the great merit of the second.

                    "The image seems fine"

In that case....Ameicans, behold your leader! This is a real billboard from Very Large Corporation Clear Channel, found in several states.

                    Again, behold your Leader!

Just think about who Clear Channel is and why they would pay for such a disturbing ad.

I dunno. Anyone flying the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia scares me. I do not believe they have my best interest at heart.

protection of the minority at the cost of the majority?

More like, protection of the minority from the majority. And, aside from the 2nd Amendment (which has several other organizations dedicated to defending it), their main focus is defending the Bill of Rights. Even right wingers like Phyllis Schalffly have come around to seeing the ACLU as important, after the USAPATRIOT ACT.

Anyone remember the Onion where the ACLU defends the Klans right to burn down ACLU headquarters?

To protect civil liberties, the best groups are probably the ACLU and the Center for Constitutional Rights.

Not the "League of the South."

I do see their value, but I also see things I don't support. I'm not against the ACLU. Your question was about choice. My choice to defend the ideals that I think are most important are better represented by States rights advocates. Not that I feel that others should agree...just my choice.

The nation could probably benefit from elements of both approaches.

I suppose it depends on which "civil liberties" you are talking about.
