yes they do. they take it into account way too much. usc will never fall out of first if they never lose, even if they never play a top 25 team and even if they play them close.The computers don't take preseason into account. And they are the best argument against the human bias argument (ie, teams drop 4-6 places after a loss).
that may work for other sports, but not for BCS college football, where a team lke tenessee, who lost twice to the same team, will get dropped from the rankings. in this thing, if you lose once, you are pretty much out of it. therefore, you take it into account at the tme of play, not at the end. does anyone really think that utah can beat miami FL? no.That's an idiotic measure. You judge how many Top 10 teams a team has beaten after the season is over. Auburn has beaten only 1, Georgia. The others aren't good enough.
of course i watched it. and how many poiints did they score? 12. apparently they didnt rush enough or they woulda put up more points.Did you watch the game? It was a total beat down. Oklahoma played ball control and rushed the ball down Texas's throat, with Peterson getting 225 yards on the ground in that game.

#8 Tennessee, and blew them out (34 - 10)
#5 Georgia, wasnt even close (24 - 6)
#15 Tennessee, kinda close (38-28)
in between, they blew out all the dozers. did OU and/or USC have a harder schedual? nope. heres how the rankings SHOULD be.
#1. Auburn - toughest schedual, blew out all their opponents including many top 10 teams
#2. OU - barely beat #20, and #22 Oklahoma St. and A&M, blew out the rest
#3. USC - the team of the almosts: almost lost to Cal, almost lost to Oregon St. almost lost to UCLA. PAC 10 is a weak conference
#4. Cal - only lost to USC, but barely. blew out everyone else, includng #21 Arizona St, with letdowns against Oregon and South Miss (wins nevertheless)
#5 Texas
#6 Utah
#7 Georgia
#8 Virginia Tech

The difference between losers and patsies is that losers can still beat you on any given weekend while patsies have zero chance. And games against losers can still injure your players.
To my mind, Auburn's starters only played 9 games this year.
