Can Western ideals of female "beauty" become any more phony?

Az is right Dis, this thread is about the western "ideal", meaning what features we currently imagine to equal beauty in women- women of any ethnicity can have these features- for example, I would consider several Chinese actresses to most certainly meet the western ideal of beauty with their features.

That said, some groups of women I have never seen approach the western ideal, such as Australian Aborigene women.

Lets als remember that the ideal changes- in the 20's a boyish figure was in, while in victorian times and before a tan equalled being poor- after all, part of why snow white was so fair was by being as white as snow- today we would say she needed some color.

Now, are we discussing beauty or sexiness? Not the same thing I think.

For example, I do think Angelina Jolie is incredibly HOT- I mean, DAMN! At the same time, I think Natalie Portman is beautiful but I don't find her particularly sexy.

I find there to be a difference- I don't know if everyone else does. In fact, A woman can be "plain" and still be sexy- that is the difference I think came up earlier with the issue of a woman being plain and having large breasts. A woman with a plain face but a vey curvy body can be very sexy, and still be nowhere near beautiful.

Hell, a woman can be ugly and sexy at the same time. Sexy is a matter of attitude more than anything else. Consider Mae West and Sandra Bernhardt. Neither woman would be considered attractive, but they work hard with what they've got.

Nicole Kidman has what I'd consider a near perfect face.

That's why, more and more, I'm looking to Japan and other places outside the Western sphere of influence, "beauty"-wise, for a little eye candy and light entertainment...

I've seen girls on the subway with enough makeup to look like clowns And then there's the wonderful tall while frilly boots and white mini skirts (in winter!).

But it seems that people here aren't generally as incompetant at make-up application as Westerners.

I just feel that e.g. women from Japan who are presented for male viewing pleasure on the web are generally more natural looking, unspoiled looking if you will, than their traditional Western counterparts.

The complaints I listed in my opening post about body structure, tattoos and breast implants etc., simply aren't even an issue in the Japanese modelling tradition, as far as I've surveyed it.

I also find most of the Japanese girls and women I've been looking at to be stunningly beautiful with a lot of positive radiance to them.
