  • No, the moment we move our forces some where else the insurgents who fled will come back. We haven't made any long term gains that I can see. There is the benifit of people knowing we'll come after insurgent held cities but the insurgents know we'll give them two month advanced notice so they'll likely leave long before we get there.

If the coalition (read: Americans) do a better job of rebuilding and helping the populace and if the government is performing the way the people want them to, there just may be a chance.

However I'm doubtful and also even if so, there are historical examples in which the minority has been able to override the majority and come into power. Bolshieks come to mind...

          Didn't happen.

Don't expect it to happen in the Sunni triangle either. This is the epicenter of the enemy.
No one is greeting the American hordes?

            • I knew the US was going downhill when they adopted those German style helmets - or is it Imperial storm troopers?

One could have expected that if one were a major idiot.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

Not really. I was focusing on Berlin '45 because it was the epicenter of the Nazi state. Ditto Falluja and the Sunni triangle. The Berliner's knew they were the enemy and knew they would be treated as such.

                            • So, you're saying that Sunni civilians are the enemy? That sounds an awful lot like a concession that the people who said the US went into Iraq to kill Sunni Arabs were right.

Good. This is a first step to understanding why the people who suggest that the people of Falluja would be greeting us with flowers -- as liberators -- are major idiots.`
