The French were mad about losing it's colony in Vietnam so we got drawn into that mess

Bullcrap. We lost our colony fair and square to Communist nationalists. The US barged in the mess, for fear of the Communists getting the upper hand in the power transition.

We got deprived of our colonies (not that we had very much anyway) as result of our world wars. Seeing the trouble the other powers had with their former colonies, and still have, I can't say, that this was a bad thing.

              Anyone for a new campaign.

It's called "Pelt the Terrorist Appeasers".

Right now all our governments will try to lick Bush's ass. They'll have trouble because Tony Blair's big mouth is covering most of it, but they will still try. Of course the fact that only their constituents in persistent vegetative states won't be disgusted won't stop them.

I suggest that as good citizens we pelt any of our leaders with eggs and rotten fruit on their return if they so much as meet with Bush.

The Australians used to do this sort of thing when Fraser was in charge.

The savages living in East Germany have a nice record in pelting leaders with rotten fruit, eggs and other lovely things. Helmut Kohl got to feel some eggs, and bravely stormed forth, attacking his offenders until he was stopped by his own bodyguards. Fischer was thrown with color bags, and as far as I remember, Schröder got flung with some kitchen slops recently too, but chickened out. Go East Germans, I'd say.

Yeah, those sods need to be put in their place.

I wish I was at home. Every time the PM made a conciliatory comment about Bush I would send her a sheet of paper with

                  "Stop Appeasing Fascists, Beeattchh!!!"

Yes, you can decide which actions you will take, if that's what you mean, but you should consider the consequences before you act, and we're not convinced that you have been doing that lately. Of course, you don't technically need to convince us either, but you can't expect us to trust you and support you if you don't.

And I'm not worried about y'all attacking us, you can't even get it together to stop genocide in your own backyard.
True. And various US governments have been actively aiding more than a few brutal dictatorships both in your own backyard and lots of other backyards on more than a few occasions, thus being indirectly responsible for thousands - if not millions - of deaths and disappearances...

                    Your point being?

As for the US deciding your fate, all I can do is paraphrase OBL to refute that - there's a reason we didn't attack Sweden. Did the US decide Sweden's fate?
No, but I was talking about Iraq...

And one more thing, the reason the US keeps getting into these messes is because we are running around a dysfunctional world left behind by European colonialism.
If we're going to argue about who's to blame for stuff that happened hundreds of years ago, we can keep going right up to the point where we end up cursing Adam and Eve for ever having children. But I don't see anything good coming out of that, so I won't be going down that road.

And we became the superpower, i.e., global cop, because we led the way against the commies.
How can there be a global cop if there is no global law?
These days you look increasingly more like a global bully.

I'm sure quite a few 10's of millions are happy the US "decided" their fate.
So am I, but that won't appease the 10's of millions are not happy.

How many of those people know major European powers were taking bribes from Saddam to subvert the sanctions? And how is it bullcrap? France lost Vietnam which is what I said and the US went in. The excuse was the spread of communism but virtually all wars are fought over resources and the French were exploiting resources in Vietnam and were afraid they'd get booted out all together and wanted our help. The mess was created by French colonialism...

Since the sane part of the world population tends not to watch FOX, I doubt that this wisdom is widespread. But then, we have Apolyton to enlighten us.
