While $499 is a bit too much for me, is there any chance this will make the non color iPods go down in price?

No, they just recently went down in price.

$499 is totally ridiculous...that's half the price of an iMac, and is the price of an entry-level PC.

and for a device that is built to hold photos, include a card reader, and not have that be an attachment for another bundle of monies....

Honestly...I can't figure out who would really want to view photos on a 2", 65K color screen.

Of course, now Agathon is going to claim that Apple invented color screens

Yes, you need color so that you can see all of the color in the music.

Wait... so the iPod Photo just shows things in color, like photographs? It doesn't actually TAKE color photographs? For $499?

On the plus side, this ...erm... innovation now allows people to make the iPod not just their skull-cracking mp3 player, but also their 40-60G PPP*. That's gotta be worth something.

                        For $499?

Yep, that's the MOST absurd part it. I remember Apple people saying the best thing about the iPod is that it only tries to do one thing well and only one thing. With this iPod, it seems that perhaps they are abandoning that view.

Oh, the funniest thing is that on iPod forums there are some who are like "What a waste of money" while you have the fanboys (Mr Nice Guy? ) saying... oooh, oooh... I can't wait to waste my money .

That's always been a false view of theirs. It's BS marketing.

The iPod comes with solitaire, a todo list, contacts, etc.
