To show solidarity... I will gladly give up The Reagan if someone can make me a kick ass Red Sox avatar .

Their infamous choke back in the 60's/70's means even in countries where Baseball is virtually unknown like Australia the curse of this team is widely known.
Surely that makes the North Sydney Bears the world's most long-losing side, having last won nothing more than a meat raffle since 1922. Was the last time the Boston Red Sox win in 1914 or thereabouts??

Incorrect, Lung . The Chicago Cubs (also a baseball team) have not won since 1908.
The Red Sox last won was in 1918, but have almost tasted victory only to have it snatched away from them .

Congrats Red Sox. I must say though besides the first game that was an incredibly boring World Series.
As for remembering this team. I won't, I really don't like the star players; especially Pedro and Manny. My favorite WS champ in recent memory was was the 02 Angels, almost all of their games were exciting. I'm pretty sure Im relatively alone on that though.
LOA... you do realize the Nazgul were evil, right?

what should the sox do this offseason? How does Hanley Ramirez and Dustin Pedoria look? I would keep cabreara
1. hes a perfect 2 batter, and I dont think Hanley or Dustin are 2 hitters. Nor is bellhorn who strikes out too much.
2. he is a guaranttedd .300 hitter, with about 40 or so doubles in his bat a year. plus he can bunt and steal, something the sox dont do much.
3. still young, one of the best defensive shortstops in the league.
the problem is that we are contractng our payroll by about $15 million this year, and we need to replace a couple of pitchers.
should we dump millar in favor of mientkiewicz? millar is the clubhouse joker, but mientkiewicz is better defensively and could prolly bat .300 or so in the lineup, and he's a lefty. the difference between Millar and Mient salary is only 1/2 million, but they both want to be starters, so if we keep one, we gotta get rid of the other. i like mietk, but millar is prolly the better guy for the clubhouse, and with lowe gone, so is the sinkerball.

Coming into the World Series, I was waiting for the Curse to kick in because it's one of the longest traditions in sports, and giving a win would ruin 86 years of Boston's specialness when it could easily be done in a special way, like ona round number such as 100 and with a team full of decent human beings as athletes. I mean, it's not like losing would dampen Red Sox spirit any--their fans are all crazy diehards anyways.
But I read there were things like 90 year olds saying "just one championship before I die." If it's that important, then y'all can have your championship, but you better not ask for anything else for a while.
I agree its important to sign cabrerra.........and varitek... varitek reminds me so much of Posada....
it will be interesting to see what becomes of the perm and lowe....but as good as pedro has been in the past, i think hes lost some of his magic....
as for the stars, whats NOT to like in Manny, Perm, Big Papi, Schill...... and a supporting cast like varitek, Nixon, Mueller, Millar...etc....we got rid of the bad apple, in NOMAR.....
and i love Francona, not the best manager, hes a total plumber, but he's the right guy for this bunch ....
its all about chemistry, and starting pitching.... it always has been, it always will be....
a little timely hitting and some D never hurt either...
Hey, maybe Francona will become another Torre... an average manager who is surrounded by a great team which makes him look good .
But Varitek is the top priority. If they don't get him re-signed the entire offseason could be a waste. He is the 'Jeter' of this bunch, the fearless leader.

Boston was the #3 highest grossing revenue team. They need to keep spending to keep up with NY. How much money does John Henry have? Can he subsidize the Red Sox?
