No, a grilled cheese sandwich gave him heartburn. Now if Che is going to admit that he sufferered, continuously, from heartburn the previous 39 years he was Atkins-free, he might have a case. But a single data point does not a trend make.

Nothing wrong grammatically with my sentence, Speer. The phrasing is a bit archaic, but it passes the sniff test.

I'm not that old, only 37. My heartburn has only been a problem since I've been an adult . . . (that point at which I started feedin myself) Anyway, it's gotten worse and worse over the years, and since '98 has been an ongoing problem for me (been chewing Tums since high school). For the past few years I've had to take actual medicine before going to bed at night. In '97 I was diagnosed with pre-uclerous lesions in my stomach (which they discovered only because I'd had a severe case of food posioning and decided to stick a camera down my throat). This last year I've been on Atkins though, no problem, except when I ate buffalo wings before bed, which I didn't do very often.

Never herd of them either. That is what I get for living in a mostly rural area.

I was the best diagrammer in my school... it was just one of those things that I just got.

JohnT's sentence was gramatticaly correct. English doesn't require the subject to precede the verb. Nor one to talk are you, given that broken sentences do you use.
