i havent seen the star wars movies but they're a big part of pop culture so to speak so the story and characters and what not has filtered down to me... but i don't really see the appeal of the star wars 'universe'. you got fat ass aliens, teddy bear aliens, and chinese aliens that people made fun of. there was a republic that collapsed and was replaced by an empire which was then defeated by some rag-tag rebels...

do people write so many books about it just to fill it out and make it interesting? i personally think the universe and concept of a show like Andromeda is far more interesting than this star wars. the show may not be that great but it has a great concept.

He may have ventured into dark side area and been tempted, but I don't think you can be 'turned' until you've acknowledged that you are going into the Dark Side.
but isn't that only if you want to go all the way dark? You can still be mostly dark, but not entirely evil, and still have turned to the dark side.

I haven't read the books, so I honestly don't know, but is there any proof of this?

A lot of people should have read Nineteen-Eighty-Four right?

Was Oceania never at war with Eastasia? Wasn't it always allied with Eurasia? The Empire has always existed in the modern time period, whereas the Old Republic was some backwards civilization from some indefinite time period ago, just like the era before the Revolution.

            Even the proles couldn't remember.
Arise ye starvelings from your slumbers; arise ye prisoners of want
The reason for revolt now thunders; and at last ends the age of "can't"
Away with all your superstitions -servile masses, arise, arise!
We'll change forthwith the old conditions And spurn the dust to win the prize

Thrawn was, indeed, the Empire at its finest. I became a Zahn fan with that trilogy, and I don't even read sci-fi, outside the SW books.
Yeah, the IMO the NJO books are not part of the Expanded Universe. They're just pure crap.

Yeah, I did the same thing. The YuVong guys are lame, the storylines are boring, and they killed Chewie! WTF!

                        And they killed Anakin

They were really building up his character, and a ton of foreshadowing that he'd be really important, and then he just... dies. Poof. WTF?

Yes. I just stared and though: not only is this crap, but they can't even write! And the last book was so frigging anticlimactic that I was just "huh?"

Part of the problem was about 20 different authors with different ideas each writing a segment, so it was a huge inconsistent mess.

They should have let Chewie die of old age.
