I recently built myself an Athlon64 3000+ with 512 MB Samsung RAM, 120GB SATA Samsung HDD, Enermax 350W Slient PSU, and an Asus K8V SE Deluxe (I hope I won't get the same crash Asher got). It's all in a nice yellow Dragon Case (DX-01) and cost me €600 (w/o graphics card, cause my GF4 TI4200 still plays games nicely).
For a descent graphics card I would have to shell out 200-300 Euros extra.
Currently I am planning on getting a GF6600 GT or ATI's similar solution (X700?), depending on which is better and quieter. I am waiting for HL2 Benches.

With a nice case building your own pc is quite a trivial task. The only thing that I was a little bit afraid of, was putting the CPU Cooler onto the CPU, because that required quite some force.

You know, I've heard that from many people, but when I did it, it didn't seem that bad. Everything is working properly, so I'm wondering if I just got lucky, or if something else is going on.

Properly seating the memory sticks took a lot more force, by comparison.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Because they're designed for people with more money than sense.

It also comes with an overclocked Athlon 64 FX (~$1200 by itself) and overclocked video card, though. Not to mention a high-performance liquid cooling system.

Also, if I basically wanted to be able to play all the games out there, and a very powerful machine, what exactly would I need? An ATI X800, and a 3.6 GHz?

Voodoo is a major company. It's comparable in size and reputation to Alienare and Falcon Northwest.

In all of the gaming magazines, it's usually Voodoo who wins the best rig awards.

But are all the systems Athlon?

They let you choose if you want an Intel or AMD system.

Why don't you look at the site...?

It wasn't bad for me too and it was the first PC I built. From now on I probably will build all of them on my own.

Building a PC is easier than anyone thinks.

As long as you can use a screwdriver, you're good.

I am. I see the only one with Intel is the Hexx.

You can choose between AMD and Intel with Rage (the standard one), too.

I'd recommend building one. For 4 grand, I could build 5 PC's that kick ass. I know you might not want to Nuke Master, but trust me, you will learn valuable skills and save yourself a buttload of money if you build your own.

And if something went wrong would I just lose the money? And, is it very complex?

(I've been a mac user all of my life, so my knowledge of PC's is small-ish)

Each component has its own warranty, which varies in length.

And are you asking if building the PC complex?

It isn't really...most things can only fit in a certain way.

I'll never build myself a computer. I barely trust myself to install extra ram... I know someone who tried to install a new processor on his old computer. While doing so, he broke a pin on the processor. He's screwed...
