We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution. - Abraham Lincoln
Didn't you just say you were interested in the "scene on the ground." The garbage collector? The shopkeeper?
The people you just mentioned are that privileged middle class you just scorned.
Yes, as in political actions, like the formation of parties, rallies, acts of violence, whatever. People voicing opinion is not the same as people acting. IN any conflict only a minority want trouble- but that is the minority that acts, and hence forces everyone else to react. The ones who act set the terms of the debate. Those are the scenes on the ground I speak about.

And it's the middle class who are the ones to decide whether or not their actions will stick or not.

Only if the middle class in the largest class (as in rich countries), as oppossed to a small class, as in the third world. With unemployment over 30% it is hard to say Iraq's "middle class" is in any way the relevant class. Most likely it is NOT. Also, due to history, that middle class is most likely more Sunni Arab than the population as a whole.

Nope, you're right. I'm just making this quote up.
Which has absolutely no relation with what you accuse me of saying. Again, I wrote (and note the second paragraph):
"There's a broad range of political opinion in Iraq, just like in the US. Just because some guy or gal in Iraq has a computer doesn't give any specific legitimacy to their rants.
That said, there are some very fine blogs. My favorite Iraqi blogger is Abbas Kadhim and my favorite non-Iraqi blogger about Iraq is Juan Cole."
Now, can you explain to me how this is any any way consistent with my supposed idea that "Iraqi blogs are rants not worth reading."
I see you're incapable of understanding basic logic so I'll help you out. Now the first paragraph said that if a person being an Iraqi blogger doesn't imply that he's worth reading. That's a very difficult logical statement from saying that being an Iraqi blogger implies that he's not worth reading.

Okay, "merchant class," if you want.
Not even- this is not Iran with its Bazzari class.
Right now Iraq is full of young men with nothing to do, lots of weapons and explosives, and with without established political groups. So anyone with guts and ambition right now has an opportunity to make a name for themselves.
Can those bloggers point to any moderate secular political movements? Right now the only parties I see are radical ones, moderate Shiite parties, parties made up of retired Baathists and the Kurdish parties.

Stop name dropping to try and show you are educated. Nobody mentioned Iran and it's not the only place with a merchant class.

duh
Even though Sistani trumps them all.

They do the same thing that you and I do.
What radical political movement are you a part of?
Only with our support do any of these "movements" ever succeed.

And how's the Indymedia reading going, elitist?
