It all depends on whether they use the bounce among registered voters or the bounce among likely voters in their analysis. Bush had a slight bounce among registered voters, but a major bounce among likely voters. He also gained support across the board on specific issues.

I'm well aware of your stance, Ag, and I curse you for being no fun at all. Why can't you have an aneurysm on Election Day like the rest of the lefties?
Won't you do it for me?
I wouldn't take too much from standardized test scores, aren't they are an indicator of who paid more for specialist tutoring these days?Only feebs vote.

Plenty: if Kerry wins, he'll be an arsehole in sheep's clothing, just like Clinton was.
Bush is an arsehole in arsehole's clothing. He makes my job, as a communist agitator, much easier.
In times past if you mentioned those "Americans and their oil grabbing militarism" among the citizens you would get blank looks, horrified protests or mild hostility. With Shrub around you are more likely to get something that sounds like Guevarism. That is something entirely new in my experience - it makes me long for my days of lonely howling in the wilderness.
When one of the citizens spouting this stuff is my grandfather (a lifelong Thatcherite) you know that America is doomed to international isolation.
I've lost count of how many old acquaintances have told me that I was right about the US in the last 2 years.
9/11 made things difficult for us commies after a good couple of years post-Seattle. Bush must have noticed our plight and decided to triple our money from the goodness of his heart.Only feebs vote.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Time reports that Republicans will vote for Bush by an 89% to 9% margin; Democrats for Kerry by an 80% to 9% margin; and, unaffiliated voters for Bush 43% to 39%.
Four years ago, 35% of voters were Republicans, 39% were Democrats, and the rest were unaffiliated. If you apply those percentages to the Time internals, you find Bush up by about 3 percentage points. If you do the same with the Newsweek internal numbers, you find Bush with a six point lead. Those results are very close to the Rasmussen Reports data (excluding the Saturday sample).
All of this leads me to conclude that the President is currently ahead by 4 or 5 percentage points."I read a book twice as fast as anybody else. First, I read the beginning, and then I read the ending, and then I start in the middle and read toward whatever end I like best." - Gracie Allen

Some of us realized it a long time ago. Bush or Kerry? Jesus Christ, what the **** kind of choice is that?
Our difference is in who we think is the lesser of two evils. To us, it is the BEAST.
