(and for the record, Kid, no one is misrepresenting you. In fact, I'm not sure anyone knows for sure just WHAT you believe, since it seems to change moment-to-moment, making it exponentially more difficult TO misrepresent)

I'm not claiming he's against other people giving such support. I'm saying that individualism can and does preclude that support. Since not everyone is individualist, or individualist to the same degree, this obviously does not mean that there is NO such support.

Yes, here we go again. You two seem determined to continue this in other threads. I wish you wouldn't and I'm sure others don't like to see it either. In fact I know many of them don't, because they have expressed that. If you want to make your own thread, and pursue this ridiculousness I don't care, but I think you should stay away from it in other threads.

            Two things

1.Who complained about me? When?I've never intentionally misrepresented you.
2.I said nothing about my views on family.

            • I'm done contributing to your threadjacks. You guys know what your doing, and so does everybody else. I won't post in this thread, because I don't want it to degenerate. I hope you two won't do this in the future.

              • (Aside to Flubber),
You obviously didn't get the memo, good sir...pointing out blatantly obvious paradoxical positions and calling the person on it (or even calling it into question) = "misrepresentation" Expect a member of the People's Re-education Authority to be along shortly to straighten you out...

EDIT: Hope we won't do what again? Show up? Call you on your BS? Both?

Hey, Flubber. What the hell did all those people do with all their freetime?
Many of the women took on traditional housewives roles while the men tended to cut wood (for home heating or sale, hunt, fish, trap, maintain a small vegetable garden. Also, families tended to be large LOL. I wasn't in that particular community much but I lived in a slightly larger one . .. the "underground" economy was huge. Lots of unreported income (the guy cutting and selling wood or the ones engaged as commercial fishermen but paid cash)

What the hell are you talking about?

I have posted in this thread a bunch of times, mainly because I grew up in an area of "high unemployment" and saw the effects of institutionalized government dependency. It wasn't pretty. When you see a 21 year old tell you he's "on UI" and he doesn't seem predisposed to do anything about it. When you have a cousin explain to you how a full time courseload is misguided since you can collect UI if you go part-time. When a person won't move away from an area of higher unemployment because then they would need more weeks of work to qualify . .. .

That I saw something funny in something you said was an aside but so we don't burden others, I would be pleased to receive a PM from you kidicious indicating where I misrepresented you. While I enjoy teasing you and poking holes in your theories, I do want to understand opposing arguments so please please let me know where this misrepresentation by me took place.

And please be specific. You obviously must be certain on this point since you did say "You seem to be taking a page out of Hitlers theory on propaganda."

                        • Me too

Well, the start up I work for just blew up. I will be getting in line to sign up for unemployment too. On the bright side, I won't be travelling very much any more....

                            • Yeah, but I'm actually in pretty decent shape to ride this out. If I'm still out of work next year, it will be time to worry.
