Mario had the skills to match Gretzky, but twice the size. Of course, he can defend himself.

Mario just plays this game better than anyone else i've seen.
Gretzky was playing his own game. I remember watching him sometimes and getting the impression that the other players on the ice were playing a different sport, like they weren't seeing what he was.
      What?

I would say that Mario's glory years at Pittsburgh were a match for Gretzky's glory years at Edmonton.

I voted for America, because every time I vote for Russia we lose.

I hope this time things will be different.

Tonight our boys (some of them from my home city who currently holds the cup of Russia's champion) will fight against Americans.

Good luck guys, the Motherland believes in you.

A dominant Canadian performance, showing what this team CAN do.

My biggest fear is that Canada will play really really well and be the dominant team but then have a game that counts stolen away from them by superlative goaltending.

In the last couple of world championships, Canada actually looked very very beatable as they dropped games or tied second rank nations in the early rounds before crushing the opposition in the games that count

The upside is Canada has clinched a home game for the quarters. On the Euro side its pretty much a cinch that it will be Finland and Sweden at home and the upcoming game between them will simply determine who gets Germany ( I'm assuming that the Czechs are now awake and will take Germany in that matchup)

Mario now is not close to what he was when he was at his best. You have to realize that in addition to the back and knee injuries, they guy has come back from Cancer! A full year of chemo and radiation!

Czechs are now at the game yes... it will be difficult to get pass them now.

Yeah I'm not just fan of Mario. Never been. I always liked Gretzky more. Of course he's a champion.

Its always CBC for the big events-- but TSN and Sportsnet mean I have the option of 3-6 NHL games per week if and when the NHL gets going.

WE take our hockey seriously ( said knowing that someone will now see it as their duty to vote for banastan)

Close, but no cigar, Gretsky won 5 Cups, Mario 2.

Not a hope in hell without a quality goaltender. Now if the Bulin Wall was playing then you would have a chance.
