There's a myth about his death.

He was leading the siege of Halden and was looking out at the fortress as he was shot in the temple and died in a heartbeat. The myth is that he was killed by someone from his own side and that the bullet in fact was one of his own buttons as there was a common myth that the hero king couldn't be killed by ordinary bullets. What is believed by some to be the infamous button-bullet can be seen at the Museum in Varberg, my old hometown.
