i think its been 6 months for me now. but i havent been so smoke free for those past 6 months. I've snuck out and bought myself a pack whenever i couldnt sleep.

Whenever I havent had cigarette for awhile, i remember cigarette tasting as sweet as honey.

When I buy a pack and smoke them for while I'm like "This is what I've been missing? It tastes crap and my head feels funny. I should quit. this sucks."....
      :-p

        Chili.

        The ultimate answer.

Swallow a few tablespoons of sambal belachan. Its the cigarette replacement. No more are you smoking from your mouth, its from the ears!

        Quite good at distraction, actually.
Arise ye starvelings from your slumbers; arise ye prisoners of want
The reason for revolt now thunders; and at last ends the age of "can't"
Away with all your superstitions -servile masses, arise, arise!
We'll change forthwith the old conditions And spurn the dust to win the prize

Zero, right. I have a pack, open pack with me. Day 1 is now done. But I have one pack with me, because you know, I hate more that I don't have smokes, than that I do but I just don't smoke them. I want to know that when ever I feel like it, I can smoke. It's like when I buy booze, I always buy too much, so I can't drink it all, because it pisses you off when you run out of drinks, even though you wouldn't drink anymore. I want to know that there is taht possibility.

            I've joined.

I have my nicotine patch in place on my left shoulder and I smoked my last cigarette at 11:00 this morning. I've been napping for some of the time since then, so that has made it a little easier to get away from it, but now it's 10 hours and the craving is really starting to set in.

I've been keeping the pack of cigs I was on plus one more, unopened pack I had, just in case... But I'll go destroy them at the kitchen sink now. Burn all bridges!

Oh, thanks for all the encouragement, advice and stories from all who've posted here! It all helps, it really does.

I have actually been cutting back my smoking. I was at about 1.5 pack a day, and now I am less than 1 pack. One cig less, but that's a 11 cig/day improvement! It's 1221 and I've already had 6

Good luck to everyone else too, but it seems Winston is facing the biggest struggle.

I won't destroy my pack.. I'll just grow more anxious if I don't have the possibility to collapse... It's been almost 24 hours now. I can't say that I feel huge urges. I want to smoke, yes, but I don't even think about it all the time. I don't feel like I absolutely havbe to smoke. I'll keep on going and I hope this challgence gets tougher because this is nothing!

But no. Because he has (had!) the longest smoking career, by what he said.

Thanks for the good wishes and @ the pic, VetLegion. I never thought about that, they aren't marketed here.

Yes, 25 years. I started in the 5th or 6th grade and I'm now 37. Only a couple of brief periods of trying to quit in all those years in between. The best I did was when I was 17 and actually quit for 4 months. Then I went to a party and after a few drinks I was back in the old chimney-mode. MORAN!!
