And so you encapsulate the Democratic strategy to date wrt Bush AWOL.

        HUH!?
Righto, I have been steadfast in my claims that I was actually in Memphis (got it seared in my memory afterall), no actually in Arizona, the night in which you claim I beat my wife.

Every known available source has been made available as I know it.

Can the same be said of Kerry?

If not why the double standard?

          • Fine, and in fact, you may even have travel tickets and all other sorts of documentation to prove that claim..BUT until you show us a signed affidavit from the doctor involved saying you did not do it, co-signed by your wife, we simply can NOT believe that you are not an evil wife beater!

As MtG said, anyone can get their hands on most if not all the information that actually matters. The NYT did, and uses it to undermine all the allegations these guys have made.

              • You missed my point GePap. I gave you a contradictory alibi that as an investigative reporter should have jumped all over.

                  You missed the real point:

All if any of the documents that validate his claims or not are public domain. These veterans have made many allegations- none of which they can back with any documentation other than their own affidavits.

Why on Earth then should anyone take them seriously if they can't give anything but their words, and all public official documents back Kerry?

You mean you admit Bush ****ed his neighbors sows when he went AWOL?

Yes, it's essentially the same thing, and you can throw in Gore and Quayle too. There are only two shades of difference: (1) Bush got into a reserve unit that was non-deployable during a war. That isn't easy to do. (2) Bush's FIA obtainable records made it appear he was absent - he was dropped from flight status for failing to appear for a mandatory flight physical.

If I failed to appear as ordered for anything in my time in the Army, my ass would be on someone's lunch menu, but it's really not all that big an issue as to whether or why Bush's CO cut him some slack.

However... here's where it ends, IMO. Bush did (eventually) release confidential pay records which did appear to indicate his presence for duty. Everything that can really be proven about Bush's service has been proven on the basis of contemporaneous data, so it should be a dead issue by now.

In Kerry's case, there's no evidence except often-contradicted testimony by guys who mostly openly admit they didn't like Kerry once he got vocal in VVAW.

The NYT does not have access to Kerry's journals to complete thh picture and further simply adds to the he said he said thus implicating the SBV without doing their homework.

If OJ kept a real time journal of his exploits the night of the murder of Nicole wouldn't that have been introduced as evidence? The NYT have acted as judge and jury with no reason to do so except partisanship.

Funny, because every time I turn on the TV, I hear Kerry explaining how a Bush policy has failed and how he is going to do better. All I hear is policies policies policies...

Maybe I need to switch on my dopey-right-wing filter so I can hear "Vietnam Vietnam Vietnam" like you.

Nobody gives a **** about Vietnam. Now maybe you can pull your head out of the sand and talk about Kerry's policy plans.

Assuming there was a body of Nicole, or she disappeared, or something of substance to actually indicate she had been murdered, then yes.

But there is always that first little inconvenient hurdle of fact to clear.

                              WHAT ****ING HOMEWORK!!!

The SBV has made allegations based solely on affidavits signed by its members. They have been able to show nothing else as proof. The papers have checked their allegations vs the OFFICIAL RECORD as it exists. They have found nothing in the official record to verify any of the allegations. They then have found contradictory statements by the people making the allegations. WHY ON EARTH WOULD THE BURDEN OF PROOF LIE WITH KERRY!?
