The Greek athletes' motorcycle accident never happened according to Greek police, surprise, surprise.

Denmark got another bronze in Badminton, and is already secured another either bronze or Silver in some sailing event. Danish Olympic Committee set a goal of 10 medals before the games, an objective which is still very much within reach. So look out, you sons and daughters of a silly foreign person! Denmark will taunt you sooo hard when we take another 8 bronze's. Prrfff...!

An American won the women's all-around in gymnastics giving the US the gold in womens and mens.

Interesting, I just saw that Ukraine won the gold in judo (or at least one of them) over a Korean. You wouldn't expect Ukraine to have the best judo guy .

Merlene Ottey came in second in the women 100m round 1, heat 2 - now competing for Slovenia.

She's 44 years old! She won a bronze for 200m in Moscow '80. Shouldn't she be in a retirement home or something? Damn, I was sure she had to be out from the top by know.

Looks like another Greek athlete is in trouble over doping.

A Greek athlete has failed a dope test at the Olympics, said a spokesman for the country's Olympic team.
Olympic officials informed the Greeks one of their athletes tested positive in an initial sample, he said.

"We won't be able to reveal the identity of the athlete until the results of the B sample are with us," said the spokesman.

There is likely to be a wait for results of the B sample, which may not be announced until Saturday.

The Greek government vowed on Friday to crack down on any athlete who tests positive to banned substances.

"For any athlete who has taken banned substances the reaction of the government will be very hard," a government source said.

"They will be stripped of any medals, awards or other privileges according to Greek laws."

Several Greek athletes have also been given honorary military officer titles.

The source said if any athletes tested positive they would also have their military rank removed.

Is this just a reflection of widespread doping or are the Greek athletes under extra pressure to do anything to ensure a good performance at their home games?

The Israelian judoka won over our Elko van der Geest, who suprisingly won over the Olympic champion who was undefeated for 3 years. Unfortunately his "angstgegner" (the Israelian) stood in his way for a well deserved medal. His brother won bronze today in the 100+ category and proclaimed it was also a little his brother's.

Pieter van de Hoogenband won the 100 m freestyle in a thriller of a race. Not even a hand difference with Schoenman, who came second. Ian Thorpe was 3rd. The respect for Ian Thorpe and Michael Phelps is justified, but I think Pieter is in the same leauge as they are. Schoeman, from South Africa, is also incredible. The 100 m is the most prestigious distance and these swimmers, with Grant Hackett made up the top 5.

As we ponder all the excuses from all the Top US basketball players that turned down spots on the Olympic team, I have determined that they're all bull****. This is not about injuries, security issues, or anything like it.

IT"S ABOUT POT.

They're all pot heads that don't want to get caught during olympic drug tests. In the NBA they don't have to worry about it, but since pot stays in your system so long, they would have been busted at the olympics.

So until the olympics allow pot as an acceptable drug for use by participants, we're not going to see dominant US basketball teams at the Olympics.

She has such a beautiful running style. Gotta go search for pictures of her race. And yes, it's truely amazing that she's able to compete at this level at the age of 44. What a dedicated athlete!

Yeah, but she really looked old. I mean, the last time i saw her she still looked like she was in the prime of her life, but this time she really looked like a 44-year old. Granted, the worlds fasted 44-year old, but still. Maybe it's Slovenias fault. Perhaps she lives close to some coal-plants.
