  • By the way, alot of your Greek sore feelings towards the US come from the stupid Commies that you all worship so much.

    • The US Army didn't postpone the operations in Najaf because of the Olympic truce. If we were to abide to the true Olympic spirit, the USA should be expelled from the games.

      • What a silly analogy

The insurgents didn't stop fighting either

We're talking about at the games themselves

        • But Powell's boss, G.W.Bush, is using the Olympics as propaganda for his Iraq and Afghanistan wars. If this isn't hybris, then what is?

          • What exactly does that have to do with the games in Athens?

And yes the ads are in poor taste. I'm not going to stick up for them.

The US Olympic Committee asked him to stop the ads, by the way.

It was committed during the Olympics by Greeks, Greeks who booed and hissed at an American Olympic champion when he displayed his flag. Honestly, this isn't that hard to understand.

                          • it only lasted 2 minutes...

2 minutes too long and very offensive. Would you say "it only lasted 2 minutes" if the runner was an Israeli and they were yelling slurs at him? The length of time doesn't matter.

                            • The only I think I would change in the Olympics is to replace those spectators who attended with those who didn't.

                              Otherwise, good job Greece.

                              • Colin Powell visited here in April, no demonstrations. Just friendly debate at a high school at Powell's request, lunch with the Queen and a relaxing stroll in Tivoli Gardens.

United States leaders know they are always welcome here.

Re the Olympics, I haven't seen any live pictures from Athens, but it seems to have been a successful show, smoothly and safely conducted in general, which deserves recognition from the parties involved.
