It's still unsubstantiated in the above posts.

    • Really? Explain how, that you guarantee companies would not find a new way of abuse through TCPA?

You already have the DMCA somewhat contradicting antitrust laws, as well...

      • Yes, the 2.6.x kernel is officially stable, but not reputably, empirically so, it would be common for a lot of vulnerabilities to be found. Generally, most servers should stay away from it, till it becomes more secure, and stick with 2.4.x Being a consumer, I don't see any signficicant risks.

i favor 2.6 over 2.4. why? lots of features that i've found i can't live without now.
for instance: better device driver models. better support for usb, ieee1394/firewire, gigabit ethernet, alsasound...

2.4 being "stable" and what not is good for only one thing, servers. and if you're going to be that anal about it, might as well stay with debian.

        • i don't know why i dual boot, really.

the two games i play, coh and ut2k4, are installed under both; they both have working ssh servers; they both share under samba; i have programs that do the exact same thing under both OSes; all of my peripherals work flawlessly under both; my documents and settings are saved on a partition both have r/w access to...

there's no reason to dual boot, but i like to anyway. mostly for this: better framerates for ut2k4 in linux, better framerates for coh in windows.

Ditto. Don't forget anticipatory I/O scheduling.

The burden of proof is not on me, you need to point out specific sections of law you think would allow MS to abuse the TCPA freely to lock out competition.

You'll need to get the new version.

                  • I don't see why they need to make everybody jump through hoops or use 3rd-party software to use themes other than the ugly-ass themes that XP comes with.

Then Microsoft is clearly in violation of anti-trust laws, because they prevent people who cannot use crappy operating systems from using the PPC 970.

Point of interest: the hare was the one who moved faster.

                              • The hare can move faster, but the capitalistic complacent proprietary stuff often slows it down.
