OK smartass. My father is 6'4" and was so skinny at 18 that he was turned down for an infantry unit when he did his national service. He only started really putting on weight after retiring from the police. My mother is 5'2" and has weighed more than she should for most of her adult life.

I'm 6'6", about 200 to 210 pounds in weight, now in my early '40's and eat and drink pretty much what I want (and don't exercise enough). If the genes that influence my metabolism and controlled my growth didn't come from my father then I'd like to hear your explanation.

Erm, I would think the burden of proof is on you to prove why and how you can "inherit" your father's "metabolism".

Not always. If your thyroid is screwy there's not a whole lot you can do.

Ah the thyroid excuse comes out now

That is involved in a miniscule amount of obesity cases.

So you don't have a clue about genetic inheritance then.

Unfortunately I can't see how a genetic predisposition to trolling could work so you can't really claim that as an excuse for your posts.

But what I disagree with is people who insist us thin people should also believe being fat is okay.

I don't really know; 2500-3000 kcal/day, perhaps. Alot of carbohydrates.
Edit: and how old are you?
                22. Thinner now than in highschool, when I actually exercised a bit - probably lost a bit of both muscle and fat mass.

Who cares whether or not being fat is genetic? Being stupid is (partly) genetic too, that doesn't make it ok.

Whether it's genetic or not is important for whether we're to solve it via indoctrination or eugenics.

                          2500-3000 calories isn't a lot.

                          2k - 3.5k is a moderate amount.

'Cos eugenics would be a pure waste of money if it hasn't a genetic component, and indoctrination alone won't solve the problem if it has.

I bet you don't. Fat people tend to hide their eating.

Thin people who people think eat a lot tend just to do all their eating in public.
