Very sad news I wish you and your sister and family lots of strength. The best of men always go too soon.

I don't know if this helps any, but I felt like saying it.. but even if you or someone else doesn't believe in the war in Iraq (I'm admitting having some doubts too at this point, after seeing Fahrenheit 911 no less), he still died as a hero. It doesn't even matter if he himself believed in what he was doing really. He joined to the defense forces of his country, and no matter how the leaders went with those forces he couldn't choose the battles. So even when he is now gone, he will live as a hero forever and join the group of heroes fallen earlier. It might not bring any comfort now, hopefully some later on, but he served his country and made the ultimate sacrifice, making him a hero of not this administration but a hero of every man who believes in right values.

Actually it's the only comfort we (the family) has. That's why I would have preferred he was buried in Arlington, but his parents are burying him by his grandparents, they hadn't really prepared for this. They want him buried nearby, which I understand. Thank you so much for the thought. And all of you for the condolences, I've been checking the thread probably every hour or so.

Hideous conincidence. On the way in to work the night I got the news, a little late because of talking to my sister and calling her back with the very helpful insurance info, I caught the song "100 years" by Five For Fighting and they got to the phrase "I'm thirty-three for a moment..." and well I almost lost it then and replaying it now to get the words right, well, I'll just sign off.

I am sad to see your family's sorrow.

War is not a game. I respect your desire to fight back against injustice.

I hope you will respect my desire that the current sacrifices will be justified in the long term.

Sadly soldiers do die. But USA soldiers who died were not forced to serve in US army, they were paid for risking their lives... Your administration and personally your president did not force him to work in army.

                  My condolences.

                        Heah shawnmmcc,

just got back in town and started reading your thread. You and I have had some good social exchanges in the past. Now, I find myself lacking in the appropriate response here. At best, all I can say is I am very sorry about your families loss...
