It would be nice if people really did absorb new information and facts and change their opinions accordingly but most people do not do that. Logic is used as a tool to justify one's own opinion in many cases. If you are arguing with a fool why not call him a fool? BTW, Urban Ranger you are a nice person.

Usually, it is "you're an idiot, so we shouldn't believe you." This is not a fallacy because we do in fact take idiocy as grounds for not believing someone.
