I'm another social drinker (except this week, during which I'm on medication - against coughing of all things - which supposedly combines very badly with alcohol. It does slow my reactions to a perceptible degree, so I'm in no mood to experiment).

I do drink alot of coffee. I've never touched any illegal drug, and have a deep aversion to tobacco; I've never tried it in any form, but I'm sensitive to smoke. Sometimes have to leave places because of too much smoke in the air.

Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

What does alcohol do anyway? How does it change your thought process?

Perhaps I should continue my life squeaky clean, what do you guys think?

I never understood this. Is the alcohol in the red wine beneficial, and if so, why only that of red wine; or is there some other substance in red wine that is good for you, and if so is it in anything else, perhaps which isn't alcoholic?

Well I find I get drunk faster on red wine, ml for ml than vodka, though vodka has ~4X the alcohol content, so there must be something else.

This sort of thinking is probably due to the alcohol.

Just to clarify: I actually have drunk alcohol before.

                        Space, you're only 17?

At 17 years old, I was a virgin, I haven't drank alcohol except for occasional sips of wine at family events and at the church (blood of the Christ, that kind of thing), and I haven't done anything. The most addictive thing would be caffenine.

Now, fast forward 10 years later... I'm definitely not a virgin, I've drank alcohol until I blacked out, toked my brains out, tossed acid, rolled on 'E', snorted special K, did crack, tripped on 'shrooms. Heck, I even sold greenies for a short time and acted as a middleman for even longer period of time.

Most of those were during my college years and ever since I graduated I pretty much have a glass of red wine with my dinner and there's occasional night out with friends.

If you've not tried anything by the end of your college years, that's something to be proud of.

Bottom line, it's your decision. You don't want to do it, don't do it. No matter what your peers may say. If you do decide to go for it, go in with your eyes open. Be aware of any possible consquences of your actions. That's my only advice.

They partied with other Amish kids let me tell you those were some wild parties, I'm not talking about alcohol, I'm talking about drugs, hard drugs and a lot.

Few of the kids got into huge troubles with getting drugs and not being able to pay at the end and cops and all that. It's like Catholic girls, they're the nastiest when it comes down to it.
Hey! Do you have the title of that documentary? I've been looking for it.
