Bigger argument meaning Lucas as executive producer has the right to make these changes (as seen by the fact that he has done it)?
In that case, you are admitting you lost.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
Bigger argument as in "it depends upon what the contracts say". Remember you claimed that
The executive producer will have power over final edits and/or additions.
whereas the fact is that this blanket statement just isn't so, and is, in fact, dependant upon the contractual details the producer signed with the director.
But it's true here. The executive producer DOES have power over final edits and/or additions... or else Lucas couldn't have done.

No one cares if Lucas has the right..we only care that he is very good at screwing a good thing, and that given his horrid track record as anything other than a producer and originator of the concept shows if he gets his hands on a film, in general he can ony hurt the story, no matter how mcuh prettier he makes the film.

If Lucas doesn't release the original versions on DVD, he's certainly gonna give a boost to the black market ...
Now, what I don't understand is, if he feels the old movies aren't good enough, why doesn't he make a bunch of remakes? He'd, little doubt, rake in absurd amounts of money.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

You know, part of me thinks that after Episode III is released, Lucas is going to declare that he WILL release the originals in their original glory to celebrate the entire series, but in order to get them you have to buy the 6-pack of Star Wars movies.
I am just pissed because my copies on tape won't last forever, then what am I going to do?
Not watch Star Wars?

Can we all acknowledge that Thorn wants to do obscene things to the backstreet boy who played Anakin so he doesn't have to keep telling us? Good.
Moving on, does anybody know of any attempts to petition His Binksness for a release of the originals? His vanity could be soothed by explaining it as an historical record of the evolution of his genius and blah blah blah.

Thank you for agreeing with my statement then. I have no idea what offended you so if you keep concurring with me .

The point that I'm trying to make is this:
Not all executive producers have the godlike powers you ascribed to them in the first post I quoted. Why you kept on arguing the point is beyond me... it's not like the statement is that hard to refute.
