By the way, what is the worst thing that happens to a child who has to listen to the pledge that he/she does not participate in anyway?

Ok, I'm beginning to understand how some people who used to be liberal, eventually became conservative later in life because of all this fluffed up political correctness nonsense.

I'm just hoping I'm resilient enough to take the good stuff from liberalism, and hold onto those for the rest of my life.

Your kind of on the money. When in school and immediately thereafter I was much more leftish than I am now. Years of bullsh1t have taught me the error of my earlier naivete.

Neither do I. Hence the reason I'm an (evil) independent.

The opinion should have just consisted of telling him to piss off in plain English not legaleese.

No, what I'm saying is that we need to round up all atheists into ghettos, then have them wear some kind of badge on their shirts.

. . . . . but it ain't gonna happen. I just need to plug my ears and close my eyes more often, so I don't lose too much patience when some unintelligent babble comes my way.

Could we get Catholics, Jews, and people with small feet thrown in there too?
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

MrFunisms aside, I'm just trying to figure out how you go about determining when somebody should try to change the system if they don't like it, and when somebody should stop whining and just take their lumps instead. I mean, obviously there are a fair number of people (and, IIRC, you're one of them) who have decided that attempting to legalize gay marriage in the US is a worthwhile cause despite the fact that gays trying to get married here could just movie to Canada and get married there instead. And yet you say that Newdow should have just kept his trap shut because he's "whiny." Is there something you're not telling us here? Or have you just given up on trying to be consistent?
